Newsletter - September 2005

Fall has arrived in the Rockies and the Aspen's are showing off their
beautiful golden leaves. It is a spectacular display of our Lord's handiwork!
As we shared in our last newsletter the first weekend of September I was asked
to be the guest speaker at our home church Woodmen Valley Chapel. The title of
my message was "Time Out", understanding the true concept of worship. We are
still receiving great testimonies and feedback from those who attended the
services. Let us know if you would like an audio CD or you can go to http://www.woodmenvalley.org
and hear it online.
Cindy and I were off to Grand Junction, Colorado the following weekend to
conduct a "Couples on Target" for thirty five couples. It was an awesome time as
the Lord obviously had prepared the hearts of those who attended. So many
stories to tell, but let me just say that the Lord showed up! We all know that
when that happens lives are changed, never to be the same again. I was also
asked to speak at their services on Sunday. There were around five hundred in
attendance. Between the couples event and the Sunday services nine precious
people (several were couples) opened their hearts to the Lord and made a
decision to invite Jesus into their lives as Lord and Savior. We spent some
sweet times with Pastor CJ and his wife and were deeply blessed by how God is
moving in their church.
Then it was off to Hawaii with our youngest daughter Kristen, her husband Mark
and our little Hunter. We all were in great need of a little R&R. We had a
delightful time just relaxing and taking in as much as we could of the beautiful
surroundings and enjoying the lovely Hawaiian people. You never know what God
has in store and that is half of the fun. It continues to amaze me that God
allows each of us to be His vessels, to use us to touch those who don't yet know
Him and draw them unto Himself!
One day after our return from Hawaii I flew to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin with my
friend Dave Dravecky. We were the main speakers at the Midwest Men's Retreat.
The Lord really moved throughout the weekend in the hearts of this group of men
and eight men received the Lord for the first time. Wow! It was great to see men
raising up to lay hold of their true identity and discovering what Biblical
manhood really means. It looks like I may receive an invitation to come back
next year. In addition, the local Promise Keepers representatives are trying to
schedule me to do a pastor's seminar on leadership.
The month ended with a weekend retreat in Dallas TX for Hillcrest Church,
where eight more men were ushered into His kingdom! It was a great retreat. What
a finale for the month of September!
As I close I would ask for your prayers in regard to our busy schedule this fall
and for clear direction as we enter this next season of ministry. It is
beginning to look more and more like God is directing us to expand the "On
Target Institute". This week I begin round two, "A Call to Biblical Manhood".
Literally thousands of men have now experienced significant life change as a
result of the "Men on Target" curriculum we have been teaching. I am convinced
that we are "eventing" people to death and that I am to focus our ministry on
process driven approaches.
May the Lord bless you and keep you in the hallow of His hand. We love you and
thank you for your friendship and support.
In His name,
Vince

Faithfulness In
The Details
Reading from One Year Book of Devotions
for Men by Stuart Briscoe
So the people of
Israel followed all of the Lord's instructions to Moses. Moses inspected all
their work and blessed them because it had been done as the LORD had commanded
him.
(Ex 39:42-43)
You've probably heard it said that “the devil is in the details.” What you may
not have heard is that the Lord is interested in the details! He expects those
who take their spiritual lives seriously to show their faithfulness not only in
the major issues but in the minor details, too.
God Almighty made it clear that he intended to dwell among the people of Israel,
whom he had chosen. Even in their wilderness travels he had indicated that his
presence in their midst was vital to their identity and survival. Accordingly,
God ordered his people to build a structure that would be appropriate to their
environment—a tent in a desert. More important, it was a structure worthy of his
presence. God conveyed minute details concerning size, structure, materials, and
decorations to Moses.
Given the difficult circumstances under which these people worked, it is
noteworthy that they took no shortcuts, used no inferior materials, and took
pains to finish the work as stipulated. The people building the tabernacle in
the desert were doing their work as unto the Lord, and for them a job well done
was the least their God deserved. The quality of their work was testimony to
their faithful commitment to him. On inspection of the finished work, Moses
noted that the “people of Israel followed all of the Lord's instructions,” and
he called together the workmen and “blessed them because it had been done as the
Lord had commanded him” (39:42-43).
Modern workmen are not always as assiduous. They call in sick when they are not,
they cut corners if no one is watching, they contract for one commodity and slip
in another. Employees rip off management, and managers abuse employees. Many
people feel the workplace is a rat race and the rats are winning. What a place
for the man of God to show he marches to a different drummer!
We are called to live out our discipleship by being faithful to God in the
details of our lives. The Lord deserves to be well served; those who do so in
their daily lives are simply being faithful. Faithfulness comes in many shapes
and sizes, but it never includes shortcuts, shoddy materials, and half measures.
Faithfulness, even and especially in the details of our lives, is what God
desires.
