New Page 1
Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Savior. It is always such a delight for me to sit back and take the time to review the events of the previous month with you. I so enjoy sharing the good news of what the Lord is doing. It is exciting indeed! June was filled with an incredible combination of outreach and just good ol' fashion fun here at On Target Ministries.
The month began with a visit to our local Colorado Springs' Christian School. I was invited as a special guest to speak on the topic of leadership. Fifty leaders from the student body were selected to attend. They received God’s Word with open minds and hearts and requested that I extend my stay in order to deliver my personal testimony. As a result, two young lives were ushered into the Kingdom. What a thrill! It is truly a privilege to be given an opportunity to minister to today's youth; our future leaders and potential role models. It is an awesome and critical responsibility!
My next event took me to Denver, CO where I conducted a Men On Target seminar for Grace Chapel (a church of 2,500). Ninety men filed in for our weekend event and five were saved. You may remember that just a few weeks prior to this date, I led their weekend services and thirty men and women received Christ. All glory to God!
My final speaking engagement was at our home church, Woodmen Valley Chapel. I was invited back to deliver the Saturday evening and Sunday morning services for Pastor Matt Heard. Between 5-6,000 men and women gathered together to hear my message entitled, "The Great Exchange." This is a teaching about how to exchange one's past for God's future…letting go of what lies behind and reaching ahead towards a new and free life in Christ.
At the conclusion of the services, each person was asked to write down what they considered to be “strong-holds” in their own life; issues that needed to be given over to God (anger, fear, unforgiveness, a past sin, etc.). As the congregation exited the sanctuary, they were asked to discard these sheets in specially marked bins…a physical manifestation of the process of "letting go". Thousands of responses poured in and God moved in mighty ways in the lives of many!
As I mentioned earlier, this month entailed some good old fashion fun as well. Fifty golfers came out to participate in this year's golf tournament and fund raiser...our best turnout yet! It was a beautiful day for golf out at the Woodmoor Pines County Club. I want to thank each person who joined us for this event, or supported us with a special donation. Your partnership is a blessing on so many levels!
Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we march ahead through the remaining summer months. Your generosity and support continue to be necessary and are so appreciated during this time. You may also want to remember our advance visit to Lee's Summit, MO next month, where we will be laying the ground work for a future men, couples and leadership conference. We know God has great things in store for Lee's Summit Community Church.
Before closing, you will notice that I have included a special "Target Point" for you at the bottom of this page. This is something that God has impressed upon my heart to do as a part of our monthly mailing. In the position to which I have been called, I become privy to many useful and inspirational writings and quotations, ones that have personally ministered to me. I hope that you will take a moment to read the first of this upcoming series. I am confident that it will minister to you too.
You are a blessing to us! We pray for you continually that you might stay under the protective wing of our Almighty Lord and Savior.
In His love,
Vince

Role Models
A man is no greater than his dream, his ideal, his hope, and his plan. Doctor Fern
Whether we are aware of it or not, the character we have developed in our own life is a copy of other people's behavior. We learn how to live life by observing other people. Our own actions are a synthesis of what we have learned by watching the actions of others. If we do not consciously select our role models, we will have little control over who we become. But our character will still be fashioned from our perception of others. If we choose our models carefully, we can be master of our life's potential. Role models can have a tremendous influence on our life. During childhood, our role models are generally our parents or siblings. Later, we develop other interests and may adopt role models that are associated with our desired profession. Role models give us insight into how others have overcome failures and how they persisted in pursuing their goals.
In The Scientific Study of Political Leadership, G. D. Paige examines how many of the most noted leaders of our time modeled themselves after other great leaders. Mao Tse-tung constantly read about Washington, Napoleon, Catherine of Russia, Peter the Great, Gladstone, Lincoln, and others. Woodrow Wilson wrote a biography of Washington. John F. Kennedy wrote of those he admired in Profiles in Courage. Napoleon read and reread Plutarch's Parallel Lives, and Winston Churchill researched the life of his ancestor Malborough.
CONSIDER THIS: Purposefully select your role models. Read biographies of people you admire. This can give you the self-confidence that you can achieve your goals.
