Greetings loved ones! Another memorable season has passed at On Target Ministries. As is often the case, July was a somewhat quiet month, one in which we usually take some much needed time to catch up on things in the office while enjoying a small dose of rest and relaxation. Although we did not conduct any seminars or events, July did include two very significant meetings involving the ministries of Promise Keepers and Focus on the Family. It is with a tremendous sense of excitement that I share just a few of the details from these gatherings with you today. 

First up was a meeting with several key leaders at Promise Keepers. I attended this event as a member of the steering committee and representative of the National Coalition of Men's Ministries (NCMM). The directive of our meeting was to discuss ways in which we could better support each other in a spirit of partnership, with the sole purpose and passion of ministering to men. 

Needless to say, it was a powerful time, one that began with a lot of intense prayer. God was in our midst, uniting our hearts and "sharpening our swords". I am thrilled to report that much was accomplished in our first meeting. Perhaps the most critical thing that was decided was to continue meeting as a task force in the days ahead. Promise Keepers has also agreed to encourage and promote the mission of the NCMM through several avenues; ads, announcements, etc. 

Finally, Promise Keepers has asked us to conduct a half day Regional NCMM Leadership Summit for Pastors and leaders prior to the Denver conference in September. We would love for this summit to become a forerunner for all future PK events. This strategy is aimed directly at our joint concern that leaders need information and tools to help them move from the excitement generated by events to on-going strategies. 

In short, the time spent with Promise Keepers was amazing! It was wonderful to witness two influential organizations come together with one thing in mind, the advancement of God's great Kingdom. May He bless our efforts! 

The second meeting that occurred this past month took place at Focus on The Family (FOF). I attended with a friend and fellow NCMM Steering Committee member, Geoff Gorsuch. As representatives of the NCMM we were there to meet with the production staff for Dr. Dobson's radio program. 

You may recall my telling you of a crucial meeting with Dr. Dobson several weeks back, one in which he agreed to help promote the outreach of the NCMM through his radio ministry. Pat Morley and I have been invited as guests for their broadcast and will be asking other NCMM ministry partners to join us. What an incredible opportunity for outreach! 

During our meeting with the production staff Geoff and I were allowed an opportunity to share the vision and history of the NCMM, and talked a little about the expectations that we have regarding the recording of our programs. Our hope is to include several testimonies and stories of what God has done through men's groups and/or programs throughout the country as a result of the NCMM and Promise Keepers. Rather than highlighting any one ministry, we will speak generically regarding the importance of small groups and other processes that have proved to be successful. 

In response to the programs, listeners will be directed to the NCMM website and given the opportunity to move in two directions. Those interested in further information on men's ministry leadership will be encouraged to attend the upcoming NCMM conference or one of Promise Keeper's regional NCMM leadership summits. Those interested in a specific area of ministry will find a list of ministry contacts who could respond to their area of need. 

It is a much anticipated project indeed! We look forward to hearing back from Focus on the Family soon with their plan and schedule for these programs. May God will use them mightily to reach a whole new segment of hungry and hurting men, as well as their leaders! We will be sure to keep you up-to-date on our progress as new information becomes available. 

I hope that this brief update helps capture the excitement we all felt in these two meetings. God is up to something. He definitely has something up His sleeve…and we all know that God has really BIG sleeves!
