Newsletter - July 2004

New Page 1

Greetings loved one! Mid-summer has arrived, and the onset of July allowed our first opportunity to take a short breath and regroup for the busier season ahead.  We praise the Lord for an eventful May and June, a typically calm time for ministry activity.  His blessings continue to flow and the evidence of His handiwork is all around us.

Our first event in July took place towards the middle of the month.  The occasion was our annual golf tournament, hosted by the Woodmoor Pines Country Club in Monument, CO.  Attendance fell a bit short of last year, but a fun and productive time was had none-the-less. We were pleased to greet all of our participants out on the green the morning of the 19th, and are so thankful for everyone's gracious support.  One of our most faithful givers, who Cindy and I had never met face to face, actually flew in from California to join us this year.  What an amazing gift! We were so blessed to have some quality time to fellowship with this dear brother!

The following weekend, I returned to our home church, Woodmen Valley Chapel, to conduct all four weekend services.  My message was a new one, entitled, "Who's Chasing Who?"  Fifty men and women came to Christ that weekend.  What an awesome move of the Spirit! You can experience a piece of this message by taking our test, "Eight signs that you are following God" at www.otm.org/rwinteractive.asp.  Be prepared…this information is sure to bring about a positive sense of conviction!

At the end of the month, I was invited to speak at a men's breakfast for local, Tri-Lakes Chapel.  After a successful meeting, I headed out to Vail, CO to speak to a group of twelve executives and friends of Colorado Christian University.  We experienced this intimate retreat at a beautiful mountain home that was generously donated to us for this time of ministry.  We discussed the importance of ministry to men in our nation and strategized ways that we could introduce this material at the seminary and Bible college level.  It was an amazing time!

Here on the home front, On Target Institute remains a critical outreach, as we witnessed thirteen first time decisions for Christ this past month.  I am so delighted with the results of this program.  It is proving to be extremely relevant for men of all ages, and the impact is leading to a genuine change of heart and lifestyle.  This process driven curriculum encourages an on-going refinement that is producing men of real integrity and character! Please join us in prayer as we seek to expand this effort across the United States.

In regards to On Target Institute, we are also excited to announce our local radio broadcast, now airing on Saturdays.  Out-of-towners can tune into this program online at otm.org.  Click on the "OTI radio listener" link on our front page.   It's one more avenue for the Lord to do a good work.

Finally, we have heard that our New Man article, "A Man of Influence," is receiving a tremendous response.  This submission was featured in their recent ten-year anniversary issue.  The life assessment test that we included is proving to be a useful tool in helping men and women evaluate their spiritual condition.  If you would like to investigate this information further, you may access this test at the same link mentioned above:  www.otm.org/rwinteractive.asp.

Thank you, dear friend, for allowing us yet another opportunity to bring you up to date on what the Lord is doing.  Cindy and I love you and are so thankful for your partnership.  As a ministry, our greatest need during the next few months, leading into fall, will be a financial one.  Your continued support, via donation and prayer is so appreciated.  You remain an integral part of what we do each and every day for the Kingdom of heaven!

Standing together,

“I will remain quiet and will look on from my dwelling place”  Isa. 18:4

In this passage, Assyria is marching against Ethiopia, whose people are described as “tall and smooth-skinned” (Isa 18:2). As the army advances, God makes no effort to stop them, and it appears as though they will be allowed to do as they wish. The Lord is watching from His “dwelling place” while the sun continues to shine on them, yet “before the harvest” (Isa 18:5) the entire proud army is defeated as easily as new growth is pruned from a vine.

Isn't this a beautiful picture of God—remaining quiet and watching? Yet His silence is not to be confused with passive agreement or consent. He is simply biding His time and will arise at the most opportune moment, just when the plans of the wicked are on the verge of success, in order to overwhelm the enemy with disaster. And as we see the evil of this world, as we watch the apparent success of wrongdoers, and as we suffer the oppression of those who hate us, let us remember those miraculous words of God—“I will remain quiet and will look on.”

Yes, God does have another point of view, and there is wisdom behind His words. Why did Jesus watch His disciples straining at the oars through the stormy night? Why did He, though unseen by others, watch the sequence of anguishing events unfold in Bethany as Lazarus slowly passed through the stages of his terminal illness, succumbed to death, and was finally buried in a rocky tomb? Jesus was simply waiting for the perfect moment when He could intercede most effectively.

Is the Lord being quiet with you? Nevertheless, He is attentive and still sees everything. He has His finger on your pulse and is extremely sensitive to even the slightest change. And He will come to save you when the perfect moment has arrived. from Daily Devotional Commentary

Whatever the Lord may ask of us or however slow He may seem to work, we can be absolutely sure He is never a confused or fearful Savior.

O troubled soul, beneath the rod,

 Your Father speaks, be still, be still;

 Learn to be silent unto God,

 And let Him mold you to His will.

O praying soul, be still, be still,

 He cannot break His promised Word;

 Sink down into His blessed will,

 And wait in patience on the Lord.

O waiting soul, be still, be strong,

 And though He tarry, trust and wait;

 Doubt not, He will not wait too long,

 Fear not, He will not come too late.
