Fall greetings dear partner! The first signs of the season are already
beginning to appear. The leaves on the Aspen trees are starting to turn to gold
and there is a brisk chill in the air. This is one of our most favorite times of
the year here in the Rocky Mountains.
The first weekend of August I was in Fontana, California at Water of Life
church. Pastor Danny had invited me to be the guest speaker at their Saturday
night and Sunday services. Water of Life has a congregation of 2,000. I spoke on
the topic of "Biblical Manhood". One hundred people received the Lord! I sense
the Lord preparing an openness of heart in His people to be stirred by His
spirit with the truth of His word. This was our only event this month, but one
that we not forget.
I have also been spending time developing a one-year curriculum for the second
year of On Target Institute. It will be based on the “Five C's of Biblical
Manhood”. The five C's are compassion, conviction, commitment, confidence, and
courage. I have never been as excited about developing anything before. This
curriculum will probably become our next book and a new seminar. It is by far
the best definition of what it means to be a Biblical man I have ever
encountered. The credit for this belongs to a list of dedicated men and women
from my church who helped shape it over the last two years. If you would like a
CD of this message recorded at a church service let us know and we will send one
to you.
I spent the last part of the month preparing for one of the most important
messages I have ever developed. I was asked to speak at our home church, Woodmen
Valley Chapel, over this Labor Day weekend. The title of the message was "Time
Out", understanding the concept of true worship. Putting this together was a
major struggle. I have been doing this long enough now to recognize the
difference between a check from God and an attack from the enemy. This is a
message the enemy hates us to hear, but a message we desperately need to lay
hold of.
I was prompted by the Lord to do something unusual to our church at the close of
each service. I asked people to break up in groups of 3 or 4 and answer two
questions: (1) What "nugget" touched you the most from this teaching? (2) What
is the rock or obstacle hindering you from entering into a daily time of
worship? It was such a powerful time that many did not want to leave when the
service concluded. Countless men and women remained in their prayer circles long
after the service was over.
Before closing we would like to update you on our office remodel. Our home
office space is still under construction and going well. We are in the final
stages-as we wait on baseboard, paint, carpet and furniture. We are so excited
to see everything to completion! As this project continues, so do our financial
needs. We are praying that your support remains steady during this time. Should
you decide to designate a special gift toward our remodel, please feel free to
make this notation on your return envelope. Your support is so appreciated!
Thank you for taking the time to read this month's update. Your partnership with
us is a tremendous blessing! Cindy and I love you so much and pray that you and
your loved ones will enjoy a wonderful Fall season!
All our love,
Vince
TARGETPOINT
DIFFUSIVENESS OF LIFE
“Rivers of living water.” John 7:38
A river touches places of which its source
knows nothing, and Jesus says if we have received of His fullness, however small
the visible measure of our lives, out of us will flow the rivers that will bless
to the uttermost parts of the earth. We have nothing to do with the outflow -
"This is the work of God that ye believe. . . ." God rarely allows a soul
to see how great a blessing he is.
A river is victoriously persistent, it
overcomes all barriers. For a while it goes steadily on its course, then it
comes to an obstacle and for a while it is baulked, but it soon makes a pathway
round the obstacle. Or a river will drop out of sight for miles, and presently
emerge again broader and grander than ever. You can see God using some lives,
but into your life an obstacle has come and you do not seem to be of any use.
Keep paying attention to the Source, and God will either take you round the
obstacle or remove it. The river of the Spirit of God overcomes all obstacles.
Never get your eyes on the obstacle or on the difficulty. The obstacle is a
matter of indifference to the river which will flow steadily through you if you
remember to keep right at the Source. Never allow anything to come between
yourself and Jesus Christ, no emotion, or experience; nothing must keep you from
the one great sovereign Source.
Think of the healing and
far-flung rivers nursing themselves in our souls! God has been opening up
marvelous truths to our minds, and every point He has opened up is an indication
of the wider power of the river He will flow through us. If you believe in
Jesus, you will find that God has nourished in you mighty torrents of blessing
for others.
