A Man And His Time (Part One)

New Page 1

Session Outline:

Eph. 5:15-17 "Be very careful, then, how you live —not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is."

1. Live ______________________ (Eph. 5:15)

2. Make __________ __________ of time (Eph. 5:16)

3. Know the ____________ will (Eph. 5:17)

Matt. 22:36-40 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

We begin the process of effective time management by first discovering who and whose we are. The above verse contains the Christian’s overarching principles to live by. Jesus says that everything in life flows from these two powerful commandments.

Life Implication:

Matt. 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Whatever we value in life will get our greatest attention. Unfortunately, most men struggle with establishing meaningful priorities because they do not have a God given strategy for living.

Pursuing the worlds trinkets at the expense of God’s gifts for us will always lead to frustration--not realizing His best for us and our families.

The devil knows that an unordered people will lead to an unordered world--a world with no time to seek God.

PRECIOUS TIME

IF YOU HAD A BANK THAT CREDITED YOUR ACCOUNT EACH MORNING WITH $86,400...THAT CARRIED NO BALANCE FROM DAY-TO-DAY...AND ALLOWED YOU TO KEEP NO CASH IN YOUR ACCOUNT...AND EVERY EVENING CANCELED WHATEVER PART OF THE AMOUNT YOU HAD FAILED TO USE DURING THE DAY...

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

DRAW OUT EVERY CENT, OF COURSE!

YOU DO HAVE SUCH A BANK AND IT’S NAME IS -TIME

EVERY MORNING IT CREDITS YOU WITH 86,400 SECONDS. EVERY NIGHT IT RULES OFF, AS LOST, WHATEVER OF THIS YOU HAVE HAILED TO INVEST TO GOOD PURPOSE.

IT CARRIED OVER NO BALANCES.

IT ALLOWS NO OVERDRAFTS.

EVERY DAY IT OPENS A NEW ACCOUNT FOR YOU. EVERY NIGHT IT BURNS THE RECORDS OF THE DAY. IF YOU FAIL TO USE THE DAY’S DEPOSITS, THE LOSS IS YOURS. THERE IS NO GOING BACK. THERE IS NO DRAWING AGAINST "TOMORROW." YOU MUST LIVE IN THE PRESENT...ON TODAY’S DEPOSITS.

INVEST IT SO AS TO GET FROM IT THE MOST IN HEALTH, HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS!
