Session Outline:
"Compromise makes a good umbrella but a poor roof."
James Russell Lowell
Ps.75:5-7 Do
not lift your horns against heaven; do not speak with outstretched neck.’"
No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt a man. But it
is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.
As followers of Christ we must remember that
compromise is not an option. Because we live in a culture that is
increasingly embracing compromise in all of its forms, our decision to not
go-with -the -flow may end up costing more than we are willing to pay.
Matt. 5:10-12 Blessed are those
who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven. "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and
falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice
and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven…
We must believe and hang on to this powerful promise.
Four things to remember:
1. It’s God’s job to ______________ the culture. (John
16:8)
2. You are the ___________ ___________ we have. (1Cor. 2:14)
3. Don’t go it _______________. (Prov. 15:22)
4. Know and rely upon the ____________ _____________. (1Cor.
2:10)
Life Implication:
God does not want us to compromise...period. If we continue to
look and act like others around us who do not know Jesus, two things will be
inevitable; 1) we will not be living the life God wants, and 2) we may be
standing in the way of what God wants to do through us in others.
1 Cor. 2:14 The
man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of
God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because
they are spiritually discerned.
You may be the best chance others have to
see Jesus.
Discussion Question:
In what ways have
I been compromising at work? Am I willing to pay the price
associated with not compromising?
