Session Outline:
But a priest’s life
is not supposed to be well-rounded; it is supposed to be one-pointed—a
compass, not a weathercock.
Aldous
Huxley
Many churches today
have lost their compass. In Acts we are given a clear picture of what the early
church was about. How far we have strayed--how complicated we have become.
The early church was
organic--we have moved from the realm of organism to organization.
Acts 2:42 They
devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the
breaking of bread and to prayer.
Four purposes for
church:
1. To _____________
2. To

3. To _______________

Life Implication:
You and I are the
church. We must live our church lives in ways that model what Jesus intended.
There is a great need for us to look at the church not only for what we can get,
but for what we can give.
How should I relate to
my church?
· Put your own mask
on first—getting the right kind of ministry for me
· Seeing that my wife
and kids are getting the right information and training
· Looking for places
to serve the vision with our unique set of gifts
Acts 20:28
Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which
the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which
he bought with his own blood.
Do you
attend church to find God or the share God?
Discussion Question:
In what ways do my
attitude and actions need to change regarding my church?
